Heifetz BBYO
Youth Run
With the exception of an advisor for adult presence, all BBYO programs and board meetings are planned by and run by the chapter members. Being on board is a fun, rewarding experience and any chapter member can run.
Pluralistic
BBYO is pluralistic, meaning that anybody, regardless of synagouge affiliation (if any) can join! It doesn't matter if you're reform, conservative, orthodox, reconstructionist, or something inbetween - Heifetz BBYO would love to have you!
BBYO is the world's largest Jewish youth group, with chapters in over twenty and thousands of teens involved worldwide. Since the first chapter was founded in 1924, BBYO has provided life changing, incredible experiences for Jewish teens everywhere. Heifetz BBYO is the first BBYO chapter in Madison in almost a decade, and the 8th chapter in the Wisconsin BBYO region (there are 7 chapters in Milwaukee). Heifetz BBYO programs have attracted over 40 different teens from all around the Madison area. There are many things that make BBYO incredible, but the two biggest things are that BBYO chapters are pluralistic and youth run.
About Heifetz BBYO
Chapter History
Named after the late Jake Heifetz, a local holocaust survivor, Heifetz BBYO has seen incredible success since its first program in November 2012. That March, we elected our first board, and on May 22nd, 2013, Heifetz became officially recognized by the international board of BBYO as the 5608th chapter. Later that week, an article about Heifetz BBYO was in the Madison Jewish News and featured on bbyo.org. Today, Heifetz BBYO has 25 registered members, and our members have attended multiple regional and international conventions.
Programs and Conventions
Fun and interesting programs are a priority for Heifetz BBYO. Some examples of Heifetz programming have been fear factor night, global shabbat, Israel night, voulenteering with Jewish Social Services, trips to Devil's Lake, sleepovers, and campfires. Heifetz BBYO members also have the opportunity to go to Wisconsin Region BBYO conventions, which are an amazing time and a great way to make friends from all over the state.
